Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered its support for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
