Donald Trump along with Japanese New Premier Share Compliments and Commit to Reinforce ‘Extraordinary’ Bond

During a latest trip to Japan's capital, ex- American leader Trump together with Japan's recently elected Prime Minister Takaichi shared warm praise and vowed to enhance the already robust two-way relations.

Key Points from the Meeting

Donald Trump commended Takaichi as a ‘exceptional’ figure and congratulated her on assuming the role of the nation's inaugural woman prime minister. In their talks at the capital's Akasaka Palace, Trump voiced optimism that she would prove to be one of the ‘outstanding leaders’ of the country.

Takaichi, identified as a protégée of late Japanese leader Abe, praised Trump's initiatives to address international disputes and reportedly vowed to put forward Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trade and Defense Agreements

Both governments revealed a list of joint projects in sectors such as power, artificial intelligence, and rare earths. Japanese firms are exploring investments of up to $400bn in the US.

Additionally, Japan had previously committed $550 billion in long-term American projects, loans, and assurances as part of an agreement to obtain exemption from the former president's tariffs.

Such moves are viewed as possibly reducing any future demands from Trump for Japan to increase its military expenditure. Takaichi responded to this by committing to accelerate proposals to raise military budget to two percent of GDP.
