World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season. The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship. A Season of High Performance Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final. The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year. This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago. Record-Breaking Numbers Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money. She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists. On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level". Other WTA Award Winners Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season. Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18. Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
